Flood Emergency Kit
The Flood Hub kit essentials suggestions
Putting together a Flood Emergency Kit or ‘Grab bag’ is a way of minimising the risks and surviving the worst, if you choose to stay in your home or are evacuated to a rest centre.
- Insurance documents and other important documents
- Mobile phones and chargers
- Children’s essentials (milk, baby food, sterilised bottles & spoons, nappies, wipes, nappy bags, clothing, comforter, teddy or favourite toy)
- Emergency cash and credit cards
- Keys
- Essential prescription medication/repeat prescription forms
- Basic clean clothing (including underwear, socks, etc)
Some items are more essential than others but depending on how much you can fit in your Flood Kit you may be able to take extra useful items such as:
- wellies
- a camera
- notepad & pen
- a battery-operated or wind-up radio
- non-perishable food items
- pet food and other pet supplies
- a wash kit and essential toiletries
- a first aid kit
- blankets and duvets
- toys and games for children
Make sure you keep your emergency pack up to date and well maintained. Replace items as neccesary, such as prescription medication or food that has exceeded its use-by date.
